Personal Diaries: Sometimes, good old paper is best
27 December 2009 in online privacy, online safetyLaw Technology News published the following article last month – Prying into a Teen’s Private Pages. It’s about about a teenager who was ordered to turnover more than 750 pages of Facebook pages. The teenager’s lawyer turned over what he thought was 100 of the most relevant pages, but the Judge asked for them all saying “(relevance of her Facebook postings was) more in the eye of the beholder than subject to strict legal demarcations.”
This brings up a couple of interesting questions?
- Should you expect any expectation of privacy one you post something to a web site?
- How can we get our youth to understand the consquences of posting their private thoughts to the web?
